Check out the final LOW-CARB outputs!

During over three years, LOW-CARB project has worked to enhance the quality and efficiency of sustainable urban mobility planning and services in functional urban areas across Central Europe. Our aim to provide input to policies of public authorities on planning for low-carbon mobility in functional urban areas was fulfilled and we hope that it will be taken up by other cities and regions. The LOW-CARB consortium has gathered all the knowledge and experience gained during the last years while working on mobility solutions for functional urban areas and launched four final publications that will be of help to other actors who work with these issues.

  • Planning for increasing of public transport accessibility in functional urban areas

LOW-CARB developed a strategies handbook that offers fundamental information, efficient methods and a variety of tools designed to optimize the process of developing sustainable mobility strategies in functional urban areas based on the stepwise methodology from the SUMP Guidelines. The handbook, available in English and in all Central European languages at the project Publications section, can be used by public authorities as well as by public transport operators and other actors involved in the mobility planning process beyond the city borders.

  • Inspiring solutions for improving the mobility services at functional urban area level

The transnational handbook on pilots for low-carbon mobility in functional urban areas, available in English and in all Central European languages at the project Publications section, presents the innovative mobility solutions developed and implemented within the LOW-CARB project. Each of the solutions has its own story because they all built strongly of the opportunities and possibilities of the unique local context in relation to public transport setup. They offer insights into overcoming technological, financial and governance obstacles to public transport solutions and aim to improve and maximise both mobility and access to services in functional urban areas.

  • Lay the foundation for corporate mobility management measures

In the “Recommendations for low-carbon mobility planning with companies in suburban areas”, two local partner teams in Leipzig (Germany) and Szeged (Hungary) developed highly innovative action plans to optimize their low-carbon mobility offers for sustainable workplace mobility to remote industrial areas. The process was initiated, moderated and led by the public transport operators based on a strong cooperation with companies in the planning areas and with the public administrations.

  • The LOW-CARB lessons-learnt brochure

If you are looking for snippets on how to better plan urban mobility at the functional urban area level, then you find all you need in the LOW-CARB lessons learnt brochure. It gathers the lessons learnt and key take-aways of our project partners from their different activities related to mobility Action Plans, strategy development processes, innovative pilot demonstrations and development of tools.

All final outputs are published in the Publications section of the website.

What’s next in the LOW-CARB project?

The outcomes of LOW-CARB have a great uptake potential that is currently being exploited within the Interreg CE Dynaxibility4CE capitalization project. It focuses on the further development of the Central Europe SUMP Competence Centre and its use by SUMP National Task Forces and by the CIVITAS National Networks (Civinets). Moreover, the extended SUMP Self-Assessment Tool has been integrated into the European Commission led mobility knowledge platform Eltis.

In case of any questions feel free to get in contact with the lead partner. We will be happy to share the knowledge we gained in LOW-CARB with you.
