Advisory Board for LOW-CARB Project Gives their Final Salute
10 July 2020
The Advisory Board gathered for a final meeting on June 23rd, 2020 to take a most recent stock of LOW-CARB’s accomplishments and trials to date. Ronald Juhrs (LVB, LOW CARB’s lead partner) voiced a great appreciation and pride of the work and results produced by the project thus far!
The Advisory Board is composed of senior decision makers from all partners as well as important external experts in relevant topical project areas and has a role of assisting in the supervision of the project’s progression. They meet annually with project coordinators and act in a consultatory manner.
Since LOW-CARB has entered its last year of the project lifetime, this final advisory board meeting was held to ensure that, despite the challenges that corona-times has precipitated, the project goes out with a bang and not a fizzle!
The meeting entailed expert advice and guidance regarding the implementation of LOW-CARB’s remaining activities, evaluation of the project’s results and impacts, and most importantly how other countries can disseminate and take up LOW-CARB’s outputs. Accordingly, a presentation of low-carbon mobility strategies, tools, and pilots that were developed by the project thus far, was given by Marlene Damerau (project manager). Particular interest and admiration were received from the Urban planning Institute of the Republic of Slovenia (UIRS) for LOW-CARB’s sustainable urban mobility planning strategy that was specifically developed for the context of FUAs.
Similarly, associated project partner Nahverkehr Rheinland (NVR) also expressed a keen interest in LOW-CARB’s strategy development for data-based mobility planning. The meeting identified a synergistic need for both NVR and LOW-CARB’s Leipzig partners: a further analysis of different tools for accessibility planning within sustainable low-carbon mobility. The meeting solidified the exciting potential of the connection between LOW-CARB, Leipzig partners, and the NVR, and has resulted in further cooperation and engagement for knowledge exchange on how to plan for low-carbon mobility with different data sources and accessibility tools!
