3 online trainings for local stakeholders: trainings attented over 50 participantsdeliver administrators and managers of public buildings informations about dealing with theair emergency indicators and application of the SAPEs management protocol.

The AWAIR team in Comune di Parma organized training for the municipalities of the FUA in cooperation with representatives of ARPAE and CINSA. The activities concerning new sensors, improved prediction of SAPEs, effective communication and attention to vulnerable groups were the focus of the meeting. Mitigation and aaptation actions wer discussed.

Polish AWAIR team of Katowice City and Central Mining Institute representatives haVEorganized a series of 4 workshops for local stakeholders. 140 workshops participants of vulnerable groups, like youth, seniors, people with asthma or allergies, people with chronic cardiac or respiratory diseases, pregnant womEn, diabetics and school teachers were provided with informations about problems of air quality and its impact on peoples health and how to face SAPEs, concerning mitigation and adaptation activities.

A scientific paper published in Atmospheric Pollution Research describes precision and accuracy of air sensors deployed in the Parma FUA.

Budapest AWAIR team organized training for local stakeholders in early December. The 30 attendees, mostly represented municipalities of Budapest FUA, received information about the air quality of the area, health effects of air pollution, and good practices. The training gave room to FUA level collaboration as well. Participants were invited to join to the AWAIR platform for future co-activities.

Members of Budapest FUA Municipality Platform visited to Csömör, a township in the agglomeration of Budapest. Citizens and public companies are encouraged to collect compost and reuse the biomass of the gardens locally.

ARPAE, coordinator of AWAIR project, has issued a study about the effects of the lockdown on the air quality in Emilia-Romagna and the Po Plain. The results are available on the website https://arpae.it/dettaglio_notizia.asp?id=11253&idlivello=1504

and they will be of absolute relevance for the activities of the project.

After the lockdown, AWAIR activities in Parma have resumed with a virtual meeting of the Multilevel Table of Stakeholders. The main topic: impact of COVID-19 on air quality, effect of pollution on the disease.

The Mayor of Budapest Gergely Karácsony invites all mayors from the agglomeration to discuss necessary changes and steps towards better air quality, including local regulations on green waste burning, co-operation among local municipalities and State Offices. An expert of the AWAIR project will give a presentation on policy recommendation and best practices will also be highlighted. 

Municipality of Zugló, the partner of AWAIR project in Budapest, will kick off a series of workshops that will lead to a policy recommendation to renew the present Smog Alarm System for the Hungarian Capital and its FUA. The first meeting will be held in the Information and Coordination Centre of Municipalities in 21 November 2019 where the stakeholders will map out the problems with the present regulations processes and communication methods.

AWAIR leader ARPAE participated in this international conference in Istanbul, turkey, with an oral presentation - Stefano Zauli spoke about AWAIR activities.

AWAIR project has met residents of Katowice during the annual, open event 5th Energy Days of the Katowice city.  This year’s motto – Mission Clear Air!  At the GIG booth we talk about our project for clean air, social awareness and involving citizens.

AWAIR partner HMGU presented a poster in the 31st annual conference of the International Society for Environmental Epidemiology (ISEE 2019), in Utrecht

AWAIR participated in Bruxelles to the Etats Generaux de l'Air. An international symposium about air quality.

HMGU partners presented AWAIR at the University of Augsburg, with the German Aerospace Center, the Augsburg environmental agency and the Environmental Science Center at the University of Augsburg.

In February AWAIR project has met Parma school teachers to discuss about how to bring air quality awareness to students. This is in preparation to activities in schools for 2019.

During COP24 in Katowice a series of events dedicated to the crucial themes related to preventing climate changing were organized. 8th of December a Cities for Climate event was established. The Deputy Director for Environmental Engineering of  GIG presented AWAIR project as an example of activities taking related to the air pollution problem in the city areas.

Municipalities of the Parma FUA have met ARPAE, CINSA and Comune di Parma to discuss mitigation and adaptation.
