127 PROJECT APPLICATIONS ENTER FULL ASSESSMENT

127 project applications that were submitted to the third call for proposals will be fully assessed by the end of 2018. This was decided unanimously by programme Member States in their meeting in Vienna on 24 April 2018 following a relevance check of all eligible applications. Lead applicants of proposals that did not pass the relevance filter will be informed shortly in the coming days.

When the third call for proposals closed on 25 January 2018, 191 applications were submitted in total. "Our third call for proposals came with a thematic focus narrowing down the topics that we do not yet cover with our funded projects. Nevertheless the open call attracted a huge number of applicants in all nine programme countries,” said Christiane Breznik from the Managing Authority hosted by the City of Vienna when the call was closed. “We are very happy to see that cooperation beyond borders takes regions and cities in central Europe forward.”

Following initial administrative eligibility checks, 181 applications entered the quality assessment stage in February, in which the relevance of proposals was checked first. Following the full assessment by the end of the year, the best transnational project partnerships will start to cooperate closely to make their cities and regions better places to live and work. They will jointly test and implement new solutions for shared challenges - in the fields of innovation, low-carbon economy, environment, culture, and transport. These new transnational cooperation projects will be funded with around 60 million Euro from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).
