The EU Strategy for the Danube Region (EUSDR) is the second EU macro-regional strategy adopted by the European Commission in 2010 and endorsed by the European Council in 2011. The Strategy brings together 14 countries along the Danube river, and covers an area which is home to 112 million people, or one-fifth of the EU’s population.
This year's forum will covers topics of particular importance for the Danube region related to preservation of cultural and historical heritage, new technologies and digitalization in tourism sector, ensuring safety and security in tourism, transport connectivity and mobility. Issues related to synergy and consistency between macro-regional strategies for achieving the common objectives of the EU and for the future of those strategies after 2020 will also be referred to. Two parallel thematic sessions on sustainable tourism mobility and security in public spaces and an open-air exhibition have been scheduled as well.

2nd Forget Heritage Project Information Day in Slovenia25th October 2018, Vodnik’s Homestead - Vodnikova cesta 65, LjubljanaThe 2nd Slovene Forget Heritage Project Information Day will be held in Ljubljana on 25th October 2018. It will be dedicated to the (official) Opening of the Writers’ Hub for Vodnik’s heritage preservation, a new coworking space for young authors in the field of literature. Regional Development Agency of the Ljubljana Urban Region (RRA LUR), partner in the project, and Divja misel, Manager of Vodnik’s Homestead and Pilot Manager of the Writers’ Hub, were working closely with the City of Ljubljana, the owner of the cultural heritage building, in setting up the new coworking space. In August 2018, after necessary infrastructure works and purchase of the ICT equipment (RRA LUR acquired funding under the Forget Heritage project), the coworking space was ready to receive first residents. In the first year of operation of the Writers’ Hub a support programme for young people from the age of 15 to 29 years will also be implemented – workshops, a mentoring programme and various presentation events of the participants of the programme.The first two workshops, designed to support the creativity of young authors in the field of literature, have already taken place, the third "Workshop of song writing basics" takes place these days. The EU Strategy for the Alpine Region (EUSALP) involves seven states (Germany, France, Italy, Austria, Slovenia, Switzerland and Liechtenstein) and 48 regions of those States in the Alpine Region. With over 80 million inhabitants, the Alpine Region is one of the biggest living, natural and economic areas in Europe and a very popular tourist destination. The Alps attract millions of visitors every year.
At the 2nd Annual Forum, main event of the Alpine year, politicians, experts, young people and civil society will discuss the entire thematic spectrum of the EU Strategy for the Alpine Region in the framework of various events and workshops. The Tyrolean Presidency and the EU invite all interested parties to actively participate in the discussion on how to address major challenges, to use the opportunities and to strengthen cooperation in the Alpine Region.
