Transnational Expert Workshop in Hamburg, Germany
From 20th to 21st February 2018, the Department for European Ethnology/Cultural Anthropology of the University of Hamburg hosted experts and representatives of the ARTISTIC project team to discuss investment strategies for sustainable valorization of Intangible Culture Heritage (ICH).
The Transnational Expert Workshop was inaugurated by Dr. Thomas Overdick from the Ministry of Culture and Media of the Free and Hanseatic city of Hamburg, who gave a speech on Preservation and Valorisation of the Intangible Maritime Heritage, including links between tangible and intangible culture heritage and importance of involvement of community in this process.
During the event the ARTISTIC research team - Prof. Dr. Gertraud Koch, Dr. Anna Stoffregen and Julia Rausch from University of Hamburg presented the first research results and the best practices of Valorisation and Financing of ICH sustainably, as an introduction to the Round Table Discussion on Transferability of research results to local contexts.
Dr. Reinhard Willfort from ISN encouraged the discussion and work group on the essence of the Crowdsourcing/crowdfunding as solutions to increase the sustainability of local ICH, taking into account possibilities of funding the local ICH sustainably, and the role of the crowd (community) in the innovation process.
The first day of the workshop was summarized by inspiring presentation of expert Georg Stark, who for over 32 years has been involved in traditional craft - printing and dyeing of fabrics using traditional patterns, tools and Indygo. Georg Stark's work and his living workshop with UNESCO label was an inspiring example of preserving and promoting of ICH through the research conducted, gaining knowledge over the years and combining passion with work.
On the second day, presentation of Jasmin Vogel from Centre for Art and Creativity (EU-Project smARTplaces) enabled workshop participants to explore possibilities of funding local ICH sustainably in the aspect of sponsoring and marketization.
The two-day Expert Workshop was conducted, moderated and summarized by Prof. Dr. Gertraud Koch from University of Hamburg.
The participation in the workshop of local and regional experts from ARTISTIC countries enabled an interactive form for this event, exchange of knowledge and experience and boosting partnership creative process, thanks to which the workshops were one of the key stages of elaboration of a strategy for the valorization and the sustainability of ICH projects by collecting best practices at EU level, under the coordination of University of Hamburg, as an ARTISTIC project partner.
