Stakeholder Workshop Poland (PP 11)

The TEACHER-CE stakeholder workshop in Poland, organized by IMGW-PIB (PP11), was addressed to various institutes representing the sectors of forestry, agriculture and water management that deal with problems of adaptation to climate changes in the pilot area of Lusatian Neisse River basin. During the workshop, various presentations were shown, including the principles of the project, list of indices used in the project and the problems related to climate changes in the pilot area.  Also the concept of an integrated tool within the TEACHER-CE project was presented. In this case, the participants were asked to fulfill a questionnaire concerning this aspect. The results of the poll were discussed at the end of the workshop. They showed that the participants prefer graphical presentation and information and are in favor of introducing tables and graphs.

Meanwhile, the participants could present their experience, knowledge and opinions on the aspects connected with water management in the context of climate change, intersectoral cooperation and the TEACHER-CE toolbox. The representatives of forestry institutes emphasized high importance of actions focused on increasing water retention in the forest environment. The Polish Waters discussed climate tests for action programs and water management programs. The scope of these works will be consistent with the recommendations of the European Commission. In the case of the agricultural sector, establishment of local water partnerships is planned. The participants also emphasized the importance of educational activities in order to increase environmental awareness among the local community. The problems of conflicts between particular sectors were also discussed. In terms of the TEACHER-CE Toolbox, the participants decided that the key to the success should be its simplicity, understandable language and showing the risk through examples. Most of the stakeholders found it interesting and useful to be able to use tools developed in other projects in their own work.
