Stakeholder Workshop Czech Republic
TEACHER-CE workshop was organized online. Participating stakeholders were mostly from the area of water resources management. It is clear that the Czech Republic is paying attention to CC and its impact on water resources and related sectors. Currently, all EU legislative directives are in place followed by national prediction models of the impact of CC on the hydrological regime in the Czech Republic. At the same time, there seems to be a lack of monitoring of local and regional impacts of CC on water resources with specific mitigating measures. Pilot action at Podyjí NP is therefore regarded as a unique opportunity to evaluate synergies (and resolve conflicts) between different sectors at Podyjí National Park. The pilot action will serve as an example of the utility of the combined toolbox in the Czech Republic.
This is needed, because most stakeholders that attended the workshop, were not aware of the existing solutions within the TEACHER-CE project (the Czech Republic was not a participating country except for the SUSTREE project). There is a general anticipation among stakeholders from the forestry sector in the Czech Republic, that the CC mitigation measures
(as demonstrated in the SUSTREE project) should be extended to the water resources management. Better dissemination of the knowledge from the previous projects and the TEACHER-CE among the stakeholders in the Czech Republic is therefore needed.
