Stakeholder Workshop Austria

The first step was a welcome-round where every person was introducing herself, so that everybody was aware about the profession of each present person. This was followed by the excursion in the alpine pasture area of Mount Schneealpe, where the most important Best Practices for water protection under climate change (BPs) were presented by PP6, PP7 and the associated partners and stakeholders. In essence this covered BPs for alpine pastures and forestry, out of which some BPs were also visible in the field. The set-up of the excursion was interactive so all present stakeholders were invited to engage themselves in questions and discussions about the presented issues. The excursion presented the thematic outlines of PROLINE-CE and SUSTREE. The main message of the excursion was the primary purpose in the water protection zone of the City of Vienna, the protection of the drinking water resources. Bundles of BPs for alpine pastures and forestry are necessary to guarantee a sustainable secure drinking water supply. All participants gathered insights into the main challenges for this part of the water sector. In the hut, BPs and concepts of the projects RAINMAN and FRAMWAT were presented for reaching the scope of TEACHER-CE.

This was followed by a presentation of the TEACHER-CE toolbox, so that everybody became insight into the main thematic issue of the workshop. Also the weather indicators for the Pilot Actions were presented to the participants. They were subsequently asked to provide their wishes for the weather/climate indicators and the TEACHER-CE toolbox. All participants engaged in exchange about these thematic issues. The dialogues and discussions covered several thematic issues of the TEACHER-CE project.
