CMCC Foundation
CMCC has been established in 2005 with the financial support of the Italian Ministry of Education, University and Research, and the Ministry of the Environment, Land and Sea and, in 2015, it became a Foundation, therefore, representing CMCC’s legal status, its contents, aims and operational modalities. The Mission of CMCC is that of investigating and modeling our climate system and its interactions with society to provide reliable, rigorous, and timely scientific results, to stimulate sustainable growth, protect the environment and develop science driven adaptation and mitigation policies in a changing climate. Three CMCC Research Divisions are involved in TEACHER-CE: Regional Models and geo-Hydrological Impacts (REMHI), Risk Assessment and Adaptation Strategies (RAAS) and Impacts on Agriculture, Forests and Ecosystem Services (IAFES).
They will provide data and information about the expected impacts of climate changes on water resources in Central Europe; moreover, they will be involved in the improvement and capitalization of tools built in previous and ongoing funded projects concerning, for example, the identification of Best Management Practices for the protection of water resources; finally, they will support the mainstreaming of the climate change adaptation issue in water sectoral and local/regional territorial plans.
