ABOUT THE WORKSHOP ON PUBLIC-PRIVATE PARTNERSHIP HELD IN CROATIA
The Institute for Development and International Relations from Zagreb organized two workshops on public-private partnership in the revitalization of cultural heritage in the scope of the RESTAURA project - Revitalization of historic buildings through public-private partnership schemes funded by the European Union (INTERREG CENTRAL EUROPE).
The lack of public funds for the revitalization of cultural heritage initiated finding new ways of financing and involving the private sector through the PPP model. The legal and financial frameworks of the public private partnership as a model for the revitalization of cultural heritage have been presented at the workshop, as well as the specific methods and tools available when considering financing the revitalization of cultural heritage through PPP model. The aim of the workshop was to improve the skills and competences of the public sector in the use of PPP schemes for the renovation and revitalization of historic buildings.
The first workshop was held in the City Hall of the City of Buzet on October 15, 2018. The workshop was opened by the the Mayor of the City of Buzet. Total number of participants was 21, while there were 14 persons trained. The number of public authorities trained was 6 (the City of Pazin, the City of Poreč, the City of Buzet, the Municipality of Kršan, the Municipality of Marčana, the Municipality of Pićan). Four commitment statements were signed (the City of Pazin, the City of Poreč, the Municipality of Marčana, the Municipality of Pićan)
The second workshop was held in the City Hall of the City of Karlovac on October 24, 2018. The workshop was opened by the Karlovac County Mayor and the Mayor of the City of Karlovac. Total number of participants was 24, while there were 19 persons trained. The number of public authorities trained was 5 (Karlovac County, the City of Karlovac, the Municipality of Lasinja, the Municipality of Vojnić, the Municipality of Ribnik). There were also representatives of local museums (the City of Ogulin, the City of Ozalj) and a music school (the City of Karlovac), as well as representatives of the private sector (Karlovačka banka and Heineken). Two commitment statements were signed (Karlovac County and the Municipality of Vojnić).
The third workshop was held in the Municipality Hall of the Municipality of Štefanje on November 5, 2018. The workshop was opened by the the Mayor of the Municipality of Štefanje. Total number of participants was 20, while there were 14 persons trained. The number of public authorities trained was 7 (the City of Čazma, the Municipality of Ivanska, the Municipality of Hercegovac, the Municipality of Berek and the Municipality of Štefanje). Four commitment statements were signed (the Municipality of Ivanska, the Municipality of Hercegovac, the Municipality of Berek and the Municipality of Štefanje).
The forth workshop was held in the premises of the Institute for Development and International Relations in Zagreb on November 12, 2018. The workshop was opened by Mrs. Daniela Angelina Jelinčić, RESTAURA Project Coordinator. Total number of participants was 17, while there were 12 persons trained. The number of public authorities trained was 1 (the City of Zagreb). One commitment statement was signed (the City of Zagreb).
The workshops’ participants showed a high degree of satisfaction with what they learned and after these workshops the representatives of 11 cities/municipalities expressed the commitment to use the models and tools they have learned during these trainings in the future revitalization projects.
