Practitioner Workshop brought insights
During the second STRIMA II - flood risk management forum, the first RAINMAN practitioner workshop took place on the 11th of September 2018 in Dresden. Approaches for the documentation and mapping of heavy rain hazards and risks on the local level were presented by researchers from the RAINMAN project partner Leibniz Institute of Ecological Urban and Regional Development. Supported by experts from the Saxon State Office for the Environment, Agriculture and Geology, they discussed map drafts with experts from the RAINMAN pilot areas. Practitioners from Saxon municipalities and further local stakeholders participated. Among others, workshop participants stated a need for easily usable documentation tools for heavy rain events. Comprehensive interpretation aids for pluvial flood hazard maps were requested.
