PILOT ACTION – MUNICIPALITY OF VELENJE
The Municipality of Velenje introduced the automated bike rental system already in 2012. In the framework of the Smart Commuting project they upgraded the bike rental system with Bicy electric bikes. They have set up two new rental terminals for e-bikes and four new pillars in front of the city hall and in the Gorica district and also bought new e-bikes. This pilot action aimed at encouraging their citizens to use bikes as a means of commuting as well as to help them overcome larger distances or steeper slopes.
