International Day for Biological Diversity - Nature Park Medvednica
On the 22nd of May, the International Day for Biological Diversity, Nature Park Medvednica was present at the fair held in Zagreb together with representations of all Croatian Parks. The fair was an opportunity to introduce Interreg CEETO project to the numerous visitors that attended the fair.
The United Nations has proclaimed the 22nd of May as the International Day for Biological Diversity (IDB) to increase the understanding and awareness of biodiversity issues. Alternatively in Croatia, and also on the 22nd of May, we celebrate the Nature Protection Day. Furthermore, from the 18th to the 27th of May of 2018 we also celebrated the Week of Parks of Croatia.
For these reasons, and in order to support the International Day for Biological Diversity, Nature Park Medvednica was present at the fair held in Zagreb in which all Croatian Parks were presented to the public as well as all Institutions working for nature protection. This fair is an opportunity to promote nature protection and biodiversity in the 19 National and Nature Parks of this country. During the event, many workshops, exhibitions at open air, educational games and games for children were celebrated.
Nature Park Medvednica also had the opportunity to introduce Interreg CEETO project to the numerous visitors present at the fair and explain the importance of sustainable tourism. During the whole week of Parks of Croatia, Nature Park Medvednica offer special promotions to visitors in order to encourage them to spend more time in nature and to educate them about the importance of nature preservation.
