FramWat national consultations in Austria
The 1st Austrian national stakeholder consultation within the Interreg CE Project FramWat took place in Lunz am See on April 23rd. The focus was on the regional stakeholders acting in the Austrian pilot area Aist in the Mühlviertel region. The organizers from WasserCluster Lunz informed the representatives from the provincial government of Upper Austria about the planned FramWat activities and outputs and provided lots of basic information on Natural Small Water Retention Measures and their possible applications. The intense discussions stressed the need of a better understanding of the multiple benefits of NSWRM and of the cumulative effectiveness of measure combinations. The participants agreed that NSWRM have positive effects on water quality & quantity, nutrient retention, sediment balance, and biodiversity in a catchment and that they should be increasingly integrated into agricultural and river basin management practices.
