How Dübener Heide Nature Park communicates green infrastructure via Social Media

With nearly every social media post we MaGICLandscapers communicate the benefits and functions of green infrastructure (GI). How to utilize the GI concept and its benefits as framework for future social media campaigns? The answer can be found in the communication concept for Social Media (in German) of the Dübener Heide Nature Park, one of the MaGICLandscapes case study areas.

In strong collaboration with local stakeholders and the communication experts Markov & Markov a handsome manual was compiled which illustrates diverse ways of social media communication by highlighting the benefits and functions of unique GI elements in the area of the Nature Park. The publication contains a well-founded analysis of the current situation of available communication tools and target groups of the Nature Park administration. It also covers a profound strategy of potential contents, topics, key messages and social media campaigns communicating GI benefits like better health, cleaner air, water retention, education, biodiversity conservation etc.. It further recommends resources, channels and initial processes for a successful social media communication.

The communication concept was implemented in the framework of MaGICLandscapes. It is an innovative approach of how social media campaigns could raise awareness of the very local benefits of green infrastructure and thus to the natural resources in the respective regional context. The concept serves as good practice for other nature parks and protected areas.
