National Workshop in Hungary
On 13th June a one-day national workshop related to strategy development of the project was organized in Felsőpakony, surroundings of Budapest. Zsolt Keresztúri, (cluster manager of First Hungarian Packaging Technology Cluster) introduced the concept of Biocompack project, its main objects and achieved results in the foregoing. The other three presentations were given by professionals of the packaging industry. The presentation of György Viszkei (Co-President of the Hungarian Association of Packaging and Materials Handling) covered the dilemmas of circular economy and the EPR (Extended Producer Responsibility). Mr. Miklós Nagy (Secretary General at the Hungarian Association of Packaging and Materials Handling) introduced the strategy for plastics in a circular economy (a document issued by the European Commission) and the role of plastics in packaging. The focus of the last presentation made by Tamás Dobronyi commercial chief officer of CLB Packaging Kft was the analysis of the Hungarian paper and plastic value chain and biocomposite market). Several stakeholders participated at the event, many questions regarding the future of (bio) plastics have been raised and answered by the experts. Furthermore the workshop highlighted the current Hungarian legislation of environmental product tax and the various interests around its further development.
