A two days debate on the added value of the ECST at the Metalliferous Hills, Italy
22nd May, Grosseto, Italy – the meeting covered the application and methords of the European Charter for Sustainable Tourism in Protected Areas – ECST, and other topics concerning sustainable tourism.
Manage tourist flows in respect of ecosystems by developing usability models that have low environmental impact and that enhance the territory. This is the focus of the two-day event organized by Federparchi - Europarc Italia, at the Parco delle Colline Metallifere and Massa Marittima in the province of Grosseto on 22nd and 23rd of May.
During the two days debate, the methods and the application of the European Charter for Sustainable Tourism in Protected Areas, which is proving to be a driving force for increasing the attractiveness of parks in the name of sustainability, were discussed. Additionally, other topics were covered such as the expectations of local operators, training as a qualifying element of touristics operators, the niches of travelers such as bike tourism and the construction of tourist packages with low environmental impact.
This occassion was also a good opportunity to present the objectives and methods of the CEETO project and the possibility of carrying out a correct monitoring and analysis of tourism flows for a better management of the protected area both in terms of environmental impact and tourist experience of visitors.
