Dear readers,
I am very pleased to present you the first issue of
the GeoPLASMA-CE Newsletter. Shallow geothermal energy use for heating,
cooling and seasonal heat storage is gaining importance in the energy
supply strategies in various European regions. The GeoPLASMA-CE project
is going to provide tools and strategies to foster the use of this
sustainable and emission saving energy supply method in the whole
Central Europe. Based on pilot actions in 6 different urban and
non-urban regions across Germany, Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia,
Austria and Slovenia we plan to share the knowledge and disseminate our
outputs to other regions in Europe as well.
Visit us, get in contact with the team and follow our project at GeoPLASMA-CE!

OUR MISSION AND VISION
Geothermal methods are a
locally available, endogenous heat source not affected by emissions,
which is a present and future key technology in order to
reduce emissions hazardous
to climate and air quality. The project intends to create a web-based
interface between geoscientific experts and public as
well as private stakeholders
to make the existing know-how about resources and risks associated to
geothermal use accessible for territorial energy
planning and management
strategies in Central Europe.

WHAT WE DO
In cooperation with
geological survey organizations, universities, non-profit organizations,
administrative bodies and private expert companies,
new management strategies
for a reasonable and sustainable use of shallow geothermal application
will be explored in 6 different pilot areas:
- Vogtland/ W-Bohemia (1), - Wałbrzych/Broumov (2), - Kraków (3), - Vienna (4), - Bratislava (5) and - Ljubljana (6).

STAKEHOLDER SURVEY ABOUT REQUIREMENTS ON SHALLOW GEOTHERMAL ENERGY
One objective of the GeoPLASMA-CE project is the standardization of methods and parameters for assessment,
planning and mapping of the potential for shallow geothermal energy. To achieve this objective,
our products have to be harmonized, but also have to display special needs or conditions of certain countries and regions.
The survey was performed in the 6 countries involved in the project and addressed the most important stakeholder groups.
A set of 65 parameters concerning different aspects of the use of geothermal energy was registered.

GeoPLASMA-CE web portal http://www.geoplasma-ce.eu
under construction
The project aims at developing a web based portal for planning, assessment and management of shallow geothermal use.
This web portal will consist of two main features:
- A web based decision support and information tool for the 6 pilot areas
- A web based expert platform to reach stakeholders in Central Europe.
Stakeholders are invited to share their needs and opinions until February 17, 2017 through the online survey.
