Taking cooperation forward
in central Europe in 2021-27

Interreg CENTRAL EUROPE has supported transnational cooperation in central Europe for more than 20 years.

Our funding helps regions and cities to become stronger and more resilient without reinventing the wheel.
We are building trust beyond borders and connect people to work together
on
innovation, low carbon topics, natural and cultural heritage as well as transport and mobility.

Now the time has come to take our cooperation forward: Based on thorough analysis of available data and strategic frameworks,
representatives from all programme countries agreed on a set of preliminary programme priorities and
specific objectives that are deemed most relevant for transnational cooperation in central Europe.

In an open and inclusive partner involvement process we have been inviting our stakeholders
to provide us regularly with feedback and inputs during the developmemt of our 2021-27 programme strategy.

The Working Group Interreg CENTRAL EUROPE 2021-27 was established in June 2018 and formalised on 14 November 2019.

The group consists of delegates from all partner states as well as an observer from the European Commission. It is responsible for steering the drafting process of the new programme and chaired by the chair of the current Interreg CENTRAL EUROPE 2014-2020 monitoring committee. The drafting of the new programme as well as the accompanying strategic environmental assessment (SEA) will be supported by external experts. The managing authority and joint secretariat of the current programme will also contribute.

The new Interreg CENTRAL EUROPE Programme is currently planned to kick-off in summer 2021.
A first call for project proposals is expected to be launched soon after the programme starts.
