University of Maribor is the second largest university in Slovenia and is a central educational and research institution in the region. It brings together knowledge, research findings and the industry. With its 17 Faculties the University produces outstanding scientific and artistic achievements, manages research projects and participates in international networks and centres of excellence.  The Transport Economics Centre (TEC) is a research centre within the Faculty of Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering and Architecture at the University of Maribor. TEC conducts international, national and regional scientific and R&D projects in the field of transport, it carries out studies providing expert opinions for different institutions, companies and other clients. Its main research fields are transportation economics, logistics, transport modelling and optimisation, transportation technologies, transport and environment, transport policy and mobility, transportation planning & development.

Role in the project:

UM will provide experience on mobility and policy making and is strongly involved in WPT1 'Understanding' and in WPT2 'Participation and Action' on State of the Art as well as in implementation of pilot and actions (support pilot implementation in Murska Sobota ). It will contribute to Knowledge transfer in WPT3 through Enlarged Transfer Programme (ETP event) and will contribute to evaluation and monitoring.

Activities in the project:

Support implementation of pilot action in region of Pomurje (and Murska Sobota as central point):

  • Investigation of needs for demand-responsive transport service, identification of potential routes
  • Supporting development of dedicated ICT platform for management of DRT service and collection of real-time data to be used for incentives identification and nudging system
  • Creation of a new demand-responsive transport service to decrease use of personal vehicles
  • Support the pilot through a behaviour change campaign and a marketing campaign promoted among residents/tourists/stakeholders in the area.
